According to a poll by Reuters, nearly 80 percent of Americans recognize the newly elected President Joe Biden as the winner of the election. The 77-year-old politician has already won more than 76 million votes, which is more than a half of the total number of votes. If there is no change in the results, he'll get 306 voters. A nationwide poll was conducted from Saturday afternoon until Tuesday. According to 79% of US adults, Biden won the presidential election. Thirteen percent of respondents will wait for the final, official election results. Five percent of respondents said they didn't know who won. Only 3% of Americans said the current president, Donald Trump, is the winner. Virtually every Democrat supporter answered in the poll that Biden won the election. Among the Republicans, about 60 percent of respondents admitted to him winning.

In the first reading, deputies will vote on the state budget for next year with a planned deficit of 320 billion CZK. President Miloš Zeman will also personally attend the meeting. In addition to the state budget deficit, deputies will also approve the amount of revenues (1.49 trillion CZK) and expenditures (1.81 trillion CZK). The other parameters of the proposal will be approved by the legislators in the further discussions. The Communists have already announced that they would support the budget only after their amendments have been adopted. One of the conditions is a reduction in military expenditures, with which the Prime Minister Andrej Babiš doesn't agree. If the Communists decided not to support the budget, the government would have to seek support from other opposition parties.
"I've experienced quality, maintenance and poor budgets. This is the first budget that has nothing to do with the economic reality,"
the former Minister of Finance, Miroslav Kalousek, criticized the government's proposal.

A Hong Kong journalist appears in court
The award-winning Hong Kong journalist, Bao Choy, is answering government charges in court. She appeared in court over her role in investigating the police crackdowns on crowd demonstrations last year. The case has heightened fears of the ever-shrinking press freedom in the semi-autonomous Chinese city of more than 7 million people. Authorities continue repressing the well-known figures in connection with last year's anti-government demonstrations. Bao Choy is an employee of Hong Kong Radio Television (RTHK). She was arrested last week. She was investigating the attacks of dozens of masked men in the Hong Kong subway in July 2019.

In the Chinese publication of Zoological Research, researchers published a study on a newly discovered primate. They named it Popa langur - after the extinct volcano, which is home to its largest population. There should currently be only about 250 specimens worldwide. According to a published study, the animal has lived on land for more than 1 million years and is currently found in only a few forested areas of central Myanmar. It was first filmed two years ago. It has an agile tail that's longer than its body. The weight of the animal is estimated at about 8 kilograms.
"We can confirm that the Popa langur creature just described is listed as nearly extinct. Further field research and conservation measures are needed at this time to save this animal from extinction."
said Frank Momberg, a researcher at Flora & Fauna International (FFI).
