The Czech Lion will be hosted by actor Václav Kopta on March 23rd, 2019
The Czech Lion is the most prestigious Czech film award, which has been awarded since 1993 in several categories. Last year it was hosted by Slovak Adéla Banášová, this year the host will be Czech actor and musician Václav Kopta. What did he tell us about the hosting?
"Naturally, I was very pleased about the offer to host. I have loved Czech movies all my life and it will be exciting to be so close to their creators. At the same time, I see it as a big challenge, every live broadcast is demanding, and in case of the Czech Lion it will be twice the challenge," says Václav Kopta, who will host this competition for the first time.
And what will his preparation look like?
"I will prepare myself in a way so that after the show I don‘t have to wait for everyone to leave."
Václav Kopta has been a permanent member of the Semafor theater since 1986. You will probably know him as a young student from the movie Sněženky a machři, following which he disappeared from the silver screen and appeared after more than 20 years in Sněženky a machři po 25 letech. He plays in the TV series Ulice and provided musical accompaniment to the show Mr. GS.
