As it turns out, celebrities have found a new source of entertainment. Podcasts. They literally came pouring down like rain. In short, who doesn't have a podcast, may as well not exist. Then again, why not? Podcasts area a great source of business. Michelle Obama, who has recently released the first part of her show, is fully aware of that. Her guest was none other than her husband Barrack.
Although podcasts have been around since 2004, they have only gained popularity in recent years. And many world-famous celebrities have seized the opportunity to earn some extra money on this fun new trend. One of the best podcasts that definitely doesn't fall into the category of "waste of time", is "Anna Faris is unqualified". This Hollywood actress makes no pretenses, and together with her guests, including Ashley Benson, Kobe Bryant, Lena Headey, Emily Ratajkowski and Nick Jonas, she brings humorous relationship advice. If you love the positive energy and contagious laughter of Jonatha Van Nesse, you're going to enjoy the heck out of his audio project "Getting curious". Actress Dakota Johnson, on the other hand, adresses more serious topics in her podcast. In "The Left Ear, she shares the stories of abused and mistreated women. Gwyneth Paltrow, Dax Shephard, Oprah and Ashley Graham also have their own podcasts.
Michelle Obama also seized the opportunity; she decided to talk with guests that had influenced her and made her who she is today. The first guest was, somewhat unsurprisingly, her husband Barack. But don't expect anything spicy. They talk about the environment they come from and the people who surround and shape them. Besides, most of the information has already been mentioned in her biographical book.
"When I moved to Chicago and started working as a field worker, I was actually visiting the neighborhoods where you'd grown up. I didn't have a large family like you, but I valued friendship a lot. I grew up with Bob, Greg, Mike, you know all those guys, and we stayed in touch until today. That's my pack, that's my family,"
Obama reminiscences in the interview with his wife. In subsequent episodes, we can hear, for example, Michelle's mother Marian, her brother Craig, the advisor of the Obamas in the White House Valeria Jarrett, journalist Michele Norris, but also comedian and moderator Conan O’Brien. Obama wants to motivate her listeners to have similar conversations with their loved ones.
"I hope my podcast will help start a conversation - and often a very difficult and sensitive conversation - with the people they care about the most. This is how we build understanding for each other,"
Michelle has already proven to be a very skilled speaker who can win over an audience. After the publication of the aforementioned book Becoming, she logically threw herself into something new. And she isn't planning to restrict herself solely to the podcasts whose rights were purchased by Spotify. The Obamas have concluded an exclusive contract with Netflix, which turned the book Becoming into a documentary and plans to broadcast it this year. The documentary follows the former first lady on her book tour and also focuses on the couple's private life after leaving the White House. The famous first film project of the famous family, however, was last year's American Factory documentary, which even won an Oscar for Best Documentary of the Year.
