This year's luxurious Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14 to 25. The festival is set to award an honorary Palme d'or to the French actor Alain Delon and to commemorate the recently deceased director Agnes Varda, who can be seen at the festival's official poster.

The festival will open with The Dead Don't Die by Jim Jarmusch

Pedro Almodóvar (Pain and Glory), Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) and Terrence Malick (A Hidden Life) will also present their films. Outside the competition, Rocketman and two episodes of Too Old to Die Young will be screened.

Quentin Tarantino's new film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was supposed to premier here. However, the film is still in the editing room, so it won't make it in time to premiere in Cannes.

Tribute to Miloš Forman in Cannes!

A film by Miloš Forman, The Firemen's Ball, Němec's film A Report on the Party and Guests, and Menzel's Capricious Summer, were supposed to compete in Cannes 51 years ago. However, at the instigation of French left-wing intellectuals, the festival was cancelled, with the support of Czech directors. It was Forman who joined first. French filmmakers send their regards to the starry sky and the Cannes Classics 2019 section will feature the world premiere of FORMAN VS. FORMAN by Helena Třeštíková and Jakub Hejna.

Cannes will also introduce the restored film Loves of a Blonde

After Ikarie XB 1 and Diamonds of the Night it will be the third digitally corrected work of Czechoslovak cinematography to be presented at this prestigious film festival. The Loves of a Blonde returns to Czech cinemas in early June.

The world premiere of the film in 1965 was during the main competition of the Venice Film Festival. It was then nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe. After the legendary films The Firemen's Ball and Black Peter, The Loves of a Blonde is the third film by Miloš Forman made in Czechoslovakia that returns to cinemas thanks to digital restoration.
