The presentation of the best of Bohemia and Slovakia
The LUSTR Festival is the largest show of contemporary illustration and the largest meeting of illustrators in our country. It regularly presents the best and freshest of contemporary Czech and Slovak illustration, and foreign creators also have their place on it. The first year of the festival was held in 2014 at the Microna Gallery.
Last year, it was set up on Hybernská Street in Prague 1, where it introduced contemporary illustration as a reaction to current social topics to audiences, and it will be no different this year. The LUSTR festival days are from October 4th to 10th, 2018.

This year will be held in the same place and will be no less exceptional. It comes with an up-to-date concept focused on the topics the city, its heroes and artificial intelligence.
Foreign guests who will spice up the LUSTR festival with their amazing creations
You can personally meet Spanish illustrator Miguel Ángel Camprubím López, who will present his work and share creative tips with the visitors. He will probably use the teleport he animated for a project with San Francisco children.
Next will be Polish illustrator Patrycja Podkościelny, who is known to like peace and walks on Polish beaches and is not afraid to handle really difficult topics. We are also looking forward to an Israeli guest named Ori Toor. DADA.nyc will visit from New York to present their project, a decentralized internet gallery that uses "block-chain" technology, which means that you can buy the work with crypto currency, that is, directly the founders Beatriz Ramos and Judy Mam.
Michal Bačák: "The biggest heroes of the city are the cleaning teams."
The illustrator Michal Bačák is this year's creator of the amazing visual festival, and as a central point of illustration he chose the city wall. A nameless wall through which we enter the world on the other side.
"Illustrators are mostly inconspicuous inhabitants of the city. But when they pass the wall, the symbolic boundary into their minds, they become the moderators of the fantastic world, its stories, and hence its heroes. Likewise, visitors of Lustr can walk pass the wall on Hybernská 4 and look into the world of illustration," says Michal. And he adds that the most prominent heroes of the city are for him the cleaning teams walking the streets and squares.
