When the beautiful models in the new luxury Spring/Summer 2018 collection by Balmain stepped onto the catwalk, the visitors of Paris Fashion Week went weak in the knees. The precise tailoring, unique combinations of materials and garments maximally highlighting femininity could leave nobody cold. What’s more, the garments were presented on beauties including Alessandra Ambrosio and Natalia Vodjanova.
In 2011, the sympathetic 24-year-old Olivier Rousteing became the creative director of the Balmain brand. It was a great move by the brand, because since then its name has become famous across all the continents.
Olivier Rousteing brings diversity to the world of luxury. He addresses the young generation, which feels the need for difference, originally and change more than anybody else. Nobody feels it more than Rousteing himself. He is black, which is not at all common in the fashion industry, and he grew up in a family that adopted him. His talent, style, sense of detail and distinctiveness are obvious in every item he designs.
The dresses covered in stones, beads and chains required hours of painstaking work, which is also obvious on many items in the luxurious new collection.
In the eyes of Olivier Rousteing, Spring/Summer 2018 will be carried on a wage of black, silver, gold, grey and white. There are tassels, extra-long or sexy short dresses and skirts fringed with a peplum) that create the impression of looking at a luxurious mermaid. The sheer dress woven of chains and mesh are exceedingly attractive, and the interest cuts don’t allow you to tear your eyes away. The motifs featured in the collection include stripes, checkers, circles and dots, but everything is ideally matched into luxurious looks.
The French fashion house Balmain has existed since 1946. During World War II, the founder Pierre Balmain was called the “King of French fashion”. In our opinion, the extremely talented Olivier Rousteing could readily boast this title.
