Something between a regular pool and a decorative lake - that's one way to describe a biotope. The experience of swimming in these ecological swimming pools is amazing and many people prefer them mainly because they are absolutely free of chemistry. They use sand and water filtering plants for cleaning.

Would you like to visit such a natural biotope instead of a public swimming pool? There are plenty of them in the Czech Republic. We bring you tips for ecological swimming pools that our editors find the most beautiful! Naturally, we didn't forget to include some tips for Prague and its surroundings.

Luxury swimming in the castle park in Oslavany near Ivančice

Would you like to swim in a tranquil pond located in a castle garden, while enjoying the view of a beautiful castle? Take a trip to Oslavany! You'll also find an outdoor fitness center, a geopark, a paddling pool for children or a play fountain on the premises. The bathing part of the biotope stretches over an area of ​​about 1,200 m2.

A one-year-old habitat in Jemnice near Třebíč

In the beautiful environment of the valley of the river Želetavka in Jemnice, you'll find another natural swimming pool. And again, children will have a blast here. A toboggan and several water slides are prepared to give them a ride. It goes without saying that showers and refreshments are also available. The setting is exceptionally beautiful, and if the weather gets too hot, you can relax in the shade of luxuriant trees.

Wonderful swimming in the mountains? Beskydy Mountains deliver!

The bathing biotope Prostřední Bečva is located in the Beskydy Mountains. Here, too, aquatic plants planted in a special tank take care of the cleaning, so the swimming pool works completely without chemicals. The maximum depth of this "pool pond" is 2.5 meters and you'll find here a paddling pool for children, too. Dogs are not allowed and neither is smoking.

Biotopes in Prague and its surroundings

You can enjoy swimming in biotopes even in Prague and its surroundings. Try Lhotka in Prague 4 or make a trip to Radotín!

Biotope Lhotka

The unique natural bathing lake was opened after extensive reconstruction of the original swimming pool in Lhotka in 2018. You can find it near the Novodvorská housing estate in Prague 4. It stretches over an area of ​​5,570 m2 with a maximum depth of 3.25 meters. You'll find here literally everything a good swimming pool should offer - refreshments, toilets, showers, changing rooms... The biotope has been open for visitors since 2018 and it's very popular!

"Bio swimming" in Radotín

The biotope in Radotín is now a well-known modern natural swimming pool. Again, it is an artificial water reservoir with a natural look. You won't have problems with chlorine here, the filter lagoons take care of self-cleaning. The pool is oval in shape and the maximum depth is 3.25 meters. In it's surroundings, you'll find the much-needed shade, refreshments and even a sauna.
