acallan Presents the New State-of-the-Art Distillery of Luxury Scotch Whisky!
Here the story of Macallan Distillery begins, having been founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid. After a few changes of owners, it was purchased in 1892 by Roderick Kemp, who rebuilt it. Today the Scottish distillery is owned by The Edrington Group, situated in the town of Craigellachie near Aberlour in the county of Morayshire, focusing on premium luxury Scotch single-malt whisky.
The state-of-the-art luxury distillers and its revolutionary investment
The newly-built luxury complex situated in the Speyside mountains in the beautiful manor Easter Elchies opened its doors to the public in June 2018. Macallan did not hesitate to invest over 500 million pounds, in order to create one of the most modern distilleries. It is designed by Rogers Stirk Harbor + Partners.
The grandiose design and a small comparison
The design elements are impressive. To fit in with the surrounding countryside, the green wavy roof is covered by natural grasses and wild flowers. It consists of 380,000 pieces, being one of the most complex wooden roof structures in the world. Below, the building is strategically divided into five cells, each of which was built by modern modular approach. The distillery is also designed so as to be environmentally friendly, while it uses 95% of energy from renewable sources.
The new equipment produces up to a third more whisky than its predecessor, with 36 new copper pans built in cooperation with the company Forsyths which was worked with the distillery from its humble beginnings in 1950.

Even a customer who is a keen technology enthusiast. The distillery contains a giant exhibition space with interactive "pillars", which present both the brand, as well as being a gallery archive tracing the history of the brand. Members of staff were each invited to position one of the 398 bottles! You can also enjoy a group tour. There is also a bar or an exclusive shop with souvenirs where you can enjoy the best the brand offers and at the same time relax after exhausting adventure.
The distiller certainly honours the world leading brand in the luxury world of whiskey, but also promotes tourism and economy.
