The best of the best of the best – that is how you could describe a number of albums that have broken sales records in recent years. However, first place, from the time it was released, goes to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Michael Jackson – Thriller (1982)

None other than the King of Pop Michael Jackson stands on the top of the imaginary winners’ block. His unique style, visage and unbelievable movements captured the hearts of millions of fans worldwide, who continue to love him long after his death. His best selling album Thriller, which he released in 1982, managed to overcome the limit of 100 million sold albums. Fans will find Michael Jackson’s best-known songs on this album – “Thriller”, “Beat IT” or “Billie Jean”.

Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon (1973)

British band Pink Floyd never imagined that one of its albums would become the second best-selling album in the world. It points out current world issues, which have not changed very much since 1973. This album sold about 50 million copies, certainly due to singles such as “Money”, “Time” or “Us and Them”, which you can find on the album.

AC/DC – Back in Black (1980)

This band was established in 1973 but only released its debut album, which it called High Voltage, three years later. In 1980 AC/DC released the album called Back in Black, which contains some of the band’s greatest hits. This includes the song “Back in Black”, Hell’s Bells”, or “You Shook Me All Night Long”. The album expresses sadness over singer Bon Scott, who tragically died in 1974. The official reason for his death? Alcohol opening. The “mourning” album by AC/DC sold nearly 50 million copies.

Whitney Houston – The Bodyguard (1992)

Whitney Houston’s voice enchanted most of her fans, who had not known her previously, thanks to the film called Bodyguard. The film’s soundtrack sold over 44 million copies. The album contains thirteen film hits, chiefly sung by Whitney Houston. This includes her greatest hit “I Will Always Love You”, and also “Queen of the Night”, or “Jesus Loves Me”. Other performers also contributed to the album – for example saxophone player Kenny G or jazzman Curtis Stigers.

Meat Loaf – Bat Out of Hell (1977) 

American pop-rock singer and actor is also known for his heavier figure. His best-selling album was released in 1977 under the title “Bat Out of Hell”. This album, which contains songs such as “Bat Out Of Hell”, “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth” or “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad”, sold an unbelievable 43 million copies.
